i was checking out the Manual of Stocks and it's super detailed. really helped me understand how they grade companies. and yeah, you can totally check out international markets, which is awesome.

GuruFocus is pretty solid for investors

I was looking for a good stock screener and tried out GuruFocus; the Excel Add-in is super helpful, though a bit clunky sometimes.

Good for research

I got the GuruFocus Premium Membership a few months back. I mainly use the Portfolio Tracker and their Financial Summary. The data is comprehensive, makes keeping tabs on my holdings easier. Haven't had to contact support, so can't comment there, but overall it's been pretty smooth. Just wish the interface felt a bit more modern sometimes, but that's a minor thing.

Liked the Stock Screener

I was looking for a good stock screener, and GuruFocus popped up. I signed up for the 7-day free trial to check it out. The screener was pretty intuitive to use, found some interesting stocks quickly. Didn't dive deep into other features but for that alone, it felt solid. Might actually subscribe after the trial runs out.

Solid value investing tools

I decided to try out GuruFocus Premium Plus after reading about it, primarily for the guru tracking and the Model Portfolios. The ordering process was straightforward on their website; didn't hit any snags there. Delivery, well, it's a digital service so access was immediate. The data is quite accurate from what I've cross-referenced. I really like the Buffett-Munger Screen; it helped me find a few companies I wouldn't have considered otherwise. The Interactive Charts are also quite good for visualizing trends. I did have one question about the Excel Add-in and their customer support got back to me within a day, which was decent. It's a comprehensive platform for value investing, definitely helps with in-depth analysis.

My GuruFocus Premium renewal is coming up and I noticed the price is a bit higher than last year. Has anyone managed to get a renewal discount or negotiate the price? Or should I just expect to pay the full rate?

P PoojaR 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Mine also went up! I contacted support and they mentioned the promotional rate from my initial signup had ended. They offered a small discount for renewing for two years instead of one, but nothing major. Worth asking though, you never know.

A AmitM 1 month ago
Thanks, Pooja. I'll try reaching out to them. A two-year plan might make sense if the discount is decent.

Same experience here. Pretty standard for subscriptions.

G gamerraj 1 month ago
Did you check if there are any current promo codes floating around? Sometimes they have general ones that might apply to renewals too, though it's rare.
10
A AmitM 1 month ago
Good point, I'll do a quick search. Haven't seen any recently though.

N NikhilS 1 month ago
I usually wait for their Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales to snag a better deal, but that's only for new subscriptions or major upgrades, not sure about renewals. Might be out of luck unless they have a specific loyalty offer.

S Sneha22 1 month ago
Following to see if anyone has a magic trick for this.

Yeah, those sales are great for new users. Renewals are always trickier.

Finally made the jump to GuruFocus Premium Plus from just Premium. The international market data and API access were the main drivers. Anyone else made this upgrade recently? What features are you finding most useful that weren't in the regular Premium plan?

P PriyaS 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Yeah, I upgraded during their Cyber Monday deal last year. The Excel Add-in being fully integrated with Premium Plus is a game-changer for my workflow. No more manual data scraping, it just pulls everything I need directly. Also, the deeper historical data for non-US markets is really good.

A Ankit88 1 month ago
Oh, the Excel Add-in is a big one for me too. Is it pretty stable?
3
D Deepak91 1 month ago
Agreed on the historical data. The 30-year financials for global companies is super useful.

S Sneha 1 month ago
I'm still on Premium but considering the jump. Is the stock screener much more powerful with Premium Plus for international stocks? I primarily invest in India and US but want to expand.
12
P PriyaS 1 month ago
Definitely. You get way more filters and data points for international exchanges. It's not just basic stuff.

C coolboy88 1 month ago
I upgraded mostly for the API access. Still figuring out how to best integrate it with my custom dashboards, but the potential is huge. Haven't really dug into the enhanced model portfolios yet.

Any good tutorials on the API you'd recommend?

Following this. API access sounds complex but powerful.

My GuruFocus Premium Plus renewal price jumped significantly this year. Anyone else seeing this?

V Vikram 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I reached out to support about it. They mentioned that some introductory discounts expire and the renewal goes to the standard rate. Might be worth checking your initial sign-up terms.

C coolboy88 1 month ago
Following this, my renewal is coming up soon.

Ah, that makes sense. I probably forgot about that.

P PriyaS 1 month ago
Yeah, I noticed that too for my Premium subscription. It wasn't a huge jump but definitely more than I expected. Wondering if they changed their pricing structure or something.
6
A Ankit88 1 month ago
Same here, thought it was just me. My annual went up by like 15%.

D Deepak91 1 month ago
Did you check if you were on a promo rate before? Sometimes the first year is discounted.
4
S Sneha 1 month ago
Mine actually stayed the same, but I'm on the basic Premium plan. Maybe it's specific to Premium Plus or if you had an older grandfathered rate?
2
F financeguy 1 month ago
I think the Plus plan has more features so maybe that's why the increase is higher.

Could be. I signed up during a Black Friday deal a couple of years ago.

Finally switched from my old stock screener to GuruFocus yesterday. The Buffett-Munger screen is pretty neat. Any tips for a new user?

A AmitM 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Welcome aboard! Definitely play around with the custom screener. The pre-built ones are good, but tailoring your own criteria is where it really shines. Also, don't miss the 30-Year Financials section, super helpful for long-term analysis.
7
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Thanks! I'll dive into the custom screener today. Any specific metrics you find most useful there?
8
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
Yeah, the 30-year financials are a game changer compared to other platforms.

P PoojaR 2 weeks ago
I mostly use the Undervalued Predictable Screen. It's a great starting point for finding solid companies. And definitely check out the Guru Trades section to see what the big investors are buying/selling.
0
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Oh, the Guru Trades! I forgot about that. Will check it out.
3
I InvestorGirl 2 weeks ago
Undervalued Predictable is my go-to too. Very consistent results.
5
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
Don't get too caught up in just one screen. Try combining insights from a few different ones. The DCF calculator is also pretty solid if you adjust the inputs carefully.
8
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Good point about combining insights. Still figuring out the DCF, seems a bit complex right now.
6
F financeguy 2 weeks ago
The DCF is powerful but you really need to understand your assumptions.

Thinking of signing up for GuruFocus. Does anyone know if they still do the free trial? Wanna kick the tires before committing.

E Elena Marsh 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally do. I did it a few months ago for the Premium membership. It was like 7 days, pretty standard.

E Elena 2 months ago
Can confirm, 7-day free trial is still a thing. Just make sure to cancel before the week's up if you don't want to get charged.

Are there ever any good sales for GuruFocus, like around holidays? Or is it pretty much full price all the time?

T Tom Torres 1 month ago
They definitely have Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. I snagged a discount last November for my annual subscription.
4
C Chris 1 month ago
Sometimes they do, yeah. I think I heard about something for new year's too. It's not super often but keep an eye out, especially end of year.

How does GuruFocus compare to Seeking Alpha or Morningstar? Worth switching if I'm already using one of those?

E Emma D. 1 month ago
GuruFocus is really strong for deep fundamental stuff and guru tracking. If you're into value investing and want to see what the big guys are doing, it's way better than Seeking Alpha for that specific niche imo.
2
R Rosa Whitfield 1 month ago
It's a different beast. Morningstar is great for funds and general investment ideas, but for pure stock analysis with a value lens, GuruFocus has way more tools like the DCF calculator and historical financials going way back. Depends on your style, but I found it more comprehensive for individual stocks.

If I get the basic Premium plan, does that include the Excel add-in? Or do I need a higher tier for that?

D Dana Okafor 1 month ago
Nah, the Excel add-in is definitely part of the Premium plan. I use it all the time.
4
N Nick Doyle 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's included with Premium. I remember seeing it listed when I signed up for that level.
